Academic Programs

Ranked amongst the highest in student achievement, York Region District School Board is Canada’s fastest growing publicly funded school board and the third largest school board in Ontario.

The York Region District School Board serves diverse urban and rural communities north of the City of Toronto. It is an excellent, highly developed and fully accredited public education system. Full-time programs are available for students from the age of 5 to 18. Immersed in the Canadian school system students can study at the elementary or secondary school level.

Elementary Education

All of the elementary schools in YRDSB base student learning on the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

Elementary school includes grades Kindergarten to Grade 8. The school year begins in September and ends in June.

Elementary schools are comprised of:

In the Intermediate Division, students begin to plan their secondary school education.
Teachers assist students to consider their strengths, interests and plans after they graduate.
This counseling helps students prepare to select their courses in secondary school.
