Testimonials from host families, and school principals ...

FROM HOST FAMILIES

“There is something absolutely amazing about bringing a student from another county into your home, if just for a short time.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a 12-year-old boy from Mexico and from the minute he walked into our home and showed us his shy smile, we were taken.  It was so much fun to experience Canada through his eyes. We went in search of snow, and took him to some of our favourite places. We had great dinner conversations about his culture, his family, his school and his life in Mexico.  We shared with him about life in Canada and my children introduced him to their friends.

The only horrible part about the experience was saying goodbye at the end. Thank goodness for email so we can keep in touch, which we do.

My family and myself would not hesitate to host another child. I just hope we get as lucky next time!”

“Our experience with our international student was a great experience.  She brought such great knowledge about her own country and her traditions that my family was able to learn from her. If given the oppurtunity I would very much like to host another international student.”

“Our kids enjoyed making a new friend, being able to play with their new friend any time they wanted, having someone to do homework with, learning about another culture and going out more.  It was a great experience for the entire family!”

FROM HOST SCHOOL

“Everyone at our school benefited by hosting a student.  He (the visiting student) modeled our character matters attributes in his words and actions, demonstrated maturity in meeting the expectations of a challenging program, and inspired his classmates to think globally.  We are looking forward to continued participation in the (World Classroom) program at Boxwood."
